Cooney State Park

This reservoir is a popular recreation area serving south-central Montana offering boating, swimming, camping and fishing. Attractions include good walleye and rainbow trout fishing. Boating opportunities are abundant. 72 campsites are available, 11 of which have electrical hookups on this 309 acre site at 4,252 feet in elevation. The site offers boat trailer parking, extra vehicle parking, both flush and vault toilets, maps, grills/fire rings, picnic tables, trash cans, dock and ramp, fish cleaning station, drinking water, playground and coin-operated showers. A golf course and three museums are located nearby in Red Lodge. At the Marshall Cove Campground there are no pets allowed. Campers may stay 7 days during a 30 day period at a cost of $15.00 per night. For non-resident visitors, the day use fee is $5.00 per non-resident vehicle.

Cooney State Park is located 22 miles southwest of Laurel on US Highway 212, then 8 miles west of Boyd on county road. Or south of Columbus 4 miles to Shane Creek Road, 14 miles east.
