The Great Northern Brewing Company is a craft brewery located in Whitefish, Montana. Whitefish was chosen for its rugged beauty, excellent water, and its unique history within the Flathead Valley. Founded by Minott Wessinger, the great-great grandson of Henry Weinhard, the brewery was built in the fall of 1994. Designed by world-renowned architect Joe Esherick, the Brewery boasts the title of being the tallest building in Whitefish - at a whopping three stories!
We at Great Northern are proud to brew some of the world's finest lagers and ales. We're hell-bent on brewing balanced, approachable and unique beers of the highest quality. Our beer is made by way of the age-old tradition of a "Gravity-flow" brew house. The efficiency and automation of the 20 barrel brew house was made possible through the custom design work and installation of JV Northwest. The Brewery has an annual capacity of 10,000 barrels (310,000 gallons).
At the Great Northern Brewery is the on-premise Draught House, a retailer of all-things Great Northern. The best views in town are found in the upstairs bar with a cold beer and a warm bite to eat. On your way out, fill a growler to-go, take a six pack, and grab a t-shirt. Open daily and year-round, the Draught House is the perfect spot for gathering with family and friends after a long day of skiing on Big Mountain or a day on Whitefish Lake.
Tours of the brewery are offered seasonally, so call ahead for availability.
