Kevin Red Star
Internationally acclaimed Native American artist
“Even before you prepare a canvas the thought and idea is there. Today I feel like horses. Should they be in a meadow, in the hills or with a beautiful mountain backdrop. Every day is exciting for new ideas. ”
— Kevin Red Star
Born on the Crow Indian reservation in Lodge Grass, Montana, Kevin Red Star is known internationally as a ground breaker in contemporary Native American art and an ambassador for the Crow Indian culture. His works, which celebrate his heritage in a sophisticated, contemporary style, are featured in hundreds of museum collections and shows worldwide, including the Smithsonian, Whitney Museum and Heard Museum in the U.S. and Pierre Cardin's Espace Museum in Paris. A worldly education took Red Star from Montana to New Mexico, San Francisco and even Russia, but his Crow Indian heritage is a constant source of creative expression. He lives and works in Roberts, Montana, where a deep cultural connection to the meadows and hills around him continue to inspire his work.
