Shelby, once a cattle town, is now home to oil and agriculture. Located on I-15 and U.S. Hwy 2, this town hosted the World Heavyweight Championship fight between Dempsey and Gibbons in 1923. Today, the local museum features area history, homesteading items and a dinosaur collection. Nearby, the Sweet Grass Hills offer hiking and wildlife viewing of deer, antelope, elk, foxes, golden eagles and grouse. North of town, Lake Shel-oole offers camping and outdoor recreation.
