About the photographer

Outdoors photographer Dušan Smetana was raised in a small village in the Carpathian Mountains, where he spent his boyhood following in the footsteps of his father in a quest for trout, red deer and wild boar.  Mesmerized by stories of cowboys and Indians in the American Wild West, he eventually escaped the Communist regime of his homeland and today makes his home in Montana.

His work has appeared widely in publications such as Field & Stream, Smithsonian, National Geographic Traveler, and Sports Afield as well as in numerous other magazines and books.
