About Libby Dam Visitor Center is open June, July, August and September: 9:30am to 6:00pm, 7 days a week. Open by appointment the rest of the year. Tours are available daily June, July and August at 10am and 4pm and by appointment the rest of the year, dependent upon staff availability. Photo ID is required, please call 406-293-5577 for more information. The Souse Gulch day use area near the visitor center offers playgrounds, picnic shelters, and boat ramp access to lake Koocanusa. Enjoy a picnic with a view of Lake Koocanusa, or hike the trails and take in the views from the challenging 18 hole Kooky-Noosa disc golf course. Campgrounds nearby include Dunn Creek flats, Blackwell Flats, and many Forest Service campgrounds as well. SPECIAL DIRECTIONS Download maps and instructions before leaving cities, there is no cellphone reception nearby. Visitor Center is located on the West side of the top of the dam, at 260 Souse Gulch Road. From the town of Libby, Drive 17 miles North on Hwy 37. Turn left onto Forest Road 228 and continue 3.5 miles uphill to the top of the dam. If you miss FR 228, or are coming from the town of Eureka, you will reach the Viewpoint on the top East side of the dam located on Hwy 37. From here, drive South on Hwy 37, turn right onto Jennings road, cross the bridge below the dam and turn right, uphill on FR 228.
