About Trail Creek Cabin is a cozy log cabin situated on the edge of a small meadow, in the foothills of the Gallatin Mountain Range. The cabin is partially surrounded by lodgepole pine trees, while the front view overlooks the meadow. The cabin was built in 1924 and was the original ranger station for the Bozeman Ranger District. Although the cabin sits on National Forest land, it is surrounded by sections of private land. Evidence of past timber harvest can be viewed from the front porch. The elevation at the cabin is 6,223 feet. This is a rustic log cabin with no electricity, indoor plumbing or running water. An outhouse toilet is located nearby. The cabin is a log building (12 by 24 feet) with a front porch and sleeping loft. The cabin contains four beds with mattresses, a table and chairs, a propane lantern and a wood stove for heating. This cabin has a capacity for 4 people; additional people are not allowed to camp outside or sleep on the floor/porch. A limited supply of firewood is provided. There is no drinking water available, so you must bring your own water. It is the cabin renter's responsibility to call the Livingston Ranger District (406)222-1892 for the current combination 7 days prior to reservation date. Combination lock is on the back door of cabin. Combinations are changed at unscheduled intervals.
