About Spotted Bear Ranch is located deep in the woods of remote Northwest Montana, in between Glacier National Park and the Bob Marshall Wilderness. This adventurous outpost sits on a bluff overlooking the South Fork of the Flathead River, considered by many to be one of the most secluded and pristine rivers in the world. Whether your interests are fly fishing for native wild cutthroat trout, expeditions in the Bob Marshall Wilderness or big game hunting some of the most rugged, remote territory on earth, Spotted Bear Ranch is your destination. It's the kind of place sportsmen dream of. Spotted Bear Ranch's specialty is dry fly fishing for Montana's native trout - the Westslope Cutthroat. These wild trout are plentiful, hungry and hard fighting. Other fish species native to this watershed includes the feisty, endangered Bull Trout (which commonly exceed 30 inches) and Mountain Whitefish. The season begins mid-June and continues through September. We fish the South Fork and nearby tributaries, streams, creeks and mountain lakes. The friendly and knowledgeable Spotted Bear Ranch guides are often complemented on their patience, teaching abilities and knowledge of our diverse waters. In addition to 3 or 5 day lodge fishing vacations, Spotted Bear Ranch offer unique horse pack and float expeditions into Montana's largest wilderness area, the one million acre Bob Marshall. For the adventurous soul, these wilderness adventures are beyond compare. Spotted Bear Ranch was awarded the prestigious Orvis Expedition of the Year honor in 2001, 2004 and 2008. For many years, serious sportsmen have made tracks to Spotted Bear Ranch for the hunting experience of a lifetime. We offer three challenging, traditional hunts; Spring Black Bear (May), Early Season Bow Hunt (September) and the Wilderness Bugle Elk Hunt (mid-September through October). All are led by high caliber guides who will go all out to help you bag the trophy of your dreams. Beyond its sensational fishing and hunting, Spotted Bear offers an unlimited world of outdoor adventure. SPECIAL DIRECTIONS Spotted Bear Ranch is located 55 miles southeast of Hungry Horse, Montana, directly south of Glacier National Park. To get there take either the East or West Hungry Horse Reservoir road toward the Spotted Bear Ranger Station. We're on the west side of the road; look for the Spotted Bear Ranch roadside sign. Nearest airport is Glacier Park International, approximately 2 hour drive from our facility.
