The Butte 100 Bike Race

The Butte 100 Bike Race, which bills itself as the Most Difficult Mountain Bike Race in the country, is a sporting event to behold. Extreme mountain bikers, tackling extreme routes in the high-altitude mountains south of Butte in 50- and 100-mile races, are awe-inspiring in their singular focus to make it to the finish line. The Annual Uptown Christmas Stroll

Annual Uptown Christmas Stroll, held the first Friday night in December, has been a treasured Butte tradition since 1990. Shops are open late, restaurants and bars keep the food and drink flowing, and you can enjoy a snowy horse-drawn carriage ride. There’s even a visit from Santa himself (when his busy schedule allows).

The following weekend, ice chips fly at the annual Ice Sculpting Contest, also held in our treasured Uptown Historic District. Nearly 50 blocks of ice reveal works of art at the hands of Butte carvers.
