The House Has Many Hands features works by students from the University of Montana graduate and post-baccalaureate programs: Kate Bick, Talia Cardin, Nugitt Cely, Ty Gundrum, Zola Kell, Carley Long, Wren MacDonald, Jean Marshall, Libby Morris, Dylan Quackenbush, Annie Rosser, Maya Wasileski, and Min Yoon.

As students of the University of Montana, the artists of this exhibit will share work that reflects the commitment of the University’s arts department towards individual expression and experimentation. Included in the show will be a diverse representation of ceramics, including contemporary utilitarian pottery, ceramic sculpture, and mixed media works.

Join us for First Friday featuring a gallery talk with MAM Registrar Margo Geddes, who will share the inspiration behind On Darkness: Shifting Perceptions, an exhibition she organized from the MAM Collection.

The exhibition considers darkness not simply as the absence of light, but as a distinct perceptual space—one that changes how we see, imagine, and understand the world.

Drawing from the MAM Collection, the works in "On Darkness: shifting perceptions" explore darkness as both a visual experience and an imaginative space. Through light, shadow, shifting depth, scale, and form, the artists invite viewers to question, reflect, and consider their own relationship to darkness. Music by The Dawn Patrol.

Join us on First Friday, November 6, from 5-7:00p in the Cooper Room of the Missoula Public Library for the opening reception. There will be live projections by media installation artist Buffalo Riot, and some artists will be in attendance.

The 2026-2027 touring exhibition, titled "The Art of Sovereignty”, explores identity, place, and creative resistance. Celebrating Indigenous artists from across Montana, this exhibition includes a variety of mediums, including paintings, sculpture, textiles, and beyond.
