About
The Big Log Gulch Trail has an area to turn around and park a horse trailer as well as a hitching rack. This trailhead accesses the central area of the Gates of the Mountains Wilderness, Kennedy Springs and Bear Prairie. This trail is gentle and mostly dry. The length is 12.7 miles, begins at Forest Road 1812 and ends at Trail Junction Willow Creek Trail 260. Maps of the area are Helena National Forest Visitor Map and Gates of the Mountains Wilderness and Recreation Area Map, also USGS Map1: Nelson, USGS Map2: Candle Mountain, USGS Map3: Upper Holter Lake,Township 12N; Range 2W; Section 17.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS
Travel 16 miles east of Helena on State Highway 280, then 8 miles north of York on County Road 4, then approximately 5 miles west to the Big Log Trailhead.
