About Swisher Lake Trail is located approximately 2 miles south of the US-Canada border in Kootenai National Forest. This walk-in site is located in an open forest/grassland type atmosphere adjacent to Swisher Lake. It is very serene and an excellent getaway for those seeking solitude. In the summer access is by foot or horse travel only; no motorized vehicles are allowed. A trailhead for horses is located 0.2 mile further west than the foot trailhead. There is no stock loading ramp. There are 4 campsites and restrooms at the site. Please remember to bring your own drinking water. Pets are welcome, but they must be kept on leashes. Fishing and swimming may be enjoyed at Swisher Lake. Length: In the winter there is 4.8 km of easiest trail; no grooming. Trail Begins: 0.8 mile north of Sophie Lake Trail Ends: Swisher Lake

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS From Eureka, turn south on US Highway 37 and travel for approximately 2.5 miles to the junction with Sophie Lake/Tetrault Lake Road. Turn north onto this route and follow for 5 miles to the gate at the Swisher Lake entrance. Parking is available for four vehicles. A 0.3 mile foot and horse trail leads to the site on the northwest shore of the lake. There is a trailhead for horses 0.2 mile past the campground gate. No loading ramp is available.
