About Sandpiper Art Gallery is a non-profit member artist's cooperative founded in 1971 in Polson Montana by local artists. All area artists are encouraged to apply for membership. The Gallery hosts new exhibits about every six weeks. Invitational exhibits showcase both members and invited regional artists. Two open, non-juried shows are hosted each year and all artists are encouraged to submit themed work. Sandpiper Art Gallery operates the Sandpiper Art Festival on the Lake County Courthouse Lawn the second Saturday of each August. Over 90 artists and artisans offer juried fine art and artisan crafts. There is live entertainment all day long. Sandpiper Art Gallery runs a Gift Shop in the Gallery space that offers local artisan crafts such as ceramics, jewelry, fiber art and woodworking. The Gallery also offers art workshops during the year that are open to the public. Additionally Sandpiper Art Gallery organizes the Lake County World Wide Paint Out Pleine Aire event each September. Portions of all profits from Sandpiper Art Gallery fund scholarships to aspiring artists in Lake County who attend accredited art schools. A quick draw event is also sponsored each year for scholarship funds.
