About Visitors are welcome to view the wool carding process. School children, quilt guilds, retired teachers, spinning and weaving guilds, and many tourists have enjoyed learning how wool is processed and why wool is a wonderful fiber. Please call to schedule school and group visits to our mill. Tours can be scheduled via phone at: 406-498-0417 or email. Touring Sugar Loaf Wool Carding Mill provides educational aspects of wool processing, carding equipment, and manufacturing of value-added wool products. Processing equipment dates from 1900s to a solar hot water system for scouring wool. The idea to process wool came at a church supper while discussing low wool prices. We researched wool processing and decided to go ahead. One of the remarkable aspects was finding the equipment required in Montana. Grease wool is washed and carded into batts or roving. Students, children, adults and senior citizens all find the process fascinating. We manufacture wool pillows in soft, medium and firm, which do not provide habitat for dust mites or bacteria. Wool is a wonderful product for pillows and bedding. Air flows through wool resulting in a cool pillow in summer and a warm cozy pillow in winter. Wool wicks away moisture so your head doesn't feel damp. We have been producing pillows for many years and have customers who love their pillows. We wish them all Sweet Dreams. * Mattress pads * Comforters * Baby comforters with coordinating pillows for child's pillow * Recliner comforters * Pet beds * Travel/Child pillows (we make colorful pillow cases to remind you not to leave your pillow behind at hotels) * Batts for quilts, comforters or futons are 1/2" o 4" thick * Roving are carded for hand spinning and needle felting or wet felting * Needle felting supplies Services: Custom processing of your wool into roving or batts Activities: Spinning demo, west felted balls, needle felting, rolling wool batts into comforters, hand tufting comforters Sugar Loaf Wool Carding Mill LLC is located just off the Pintlar Scenic Route which begins at Drummond, comes by Hall and Philipsburg ending in Anaconda.
