About The Basin Station Cabin is located about 9 miles west of West Yellowstone. West Yellowstone is the west entrance to Yellowstone National Park. The cabin is a rustic drive-to cabin located immediately adjacent to a heavily traveled county road. The maximum party size for the cabin is 4 people. The cabin has one double bed and one set of bunks, wood stove, dishes, pots and pans, ax, shovel, broom, mop, table and chairs. No electricity or water. Firewood provided for wood stove only. Visitors should bring their own equipment, including a camp stove and fuel, lanterns (please no candles), toilet paper, bedding/padding and pillow. An outhouse is located just north of the cabin. Recreation opportunities in the area include lake fishing and boating (Hebgen Lake), biking, hiking and hunting. A developed campground and public boat launch are located about 2 miles north of the cabin. Winter access is by cross-country skiing/snowshoeing or snowmobiling 2 miles from Highway 20. Stock and stock trailers must be kept outside the fenced yard. Hay and feed brought in must be Montana weed-free certified. For a list of Montana certified producers, visit or contact the Hebgen Lake Ranger District during regular business hours, M-F (406) 823-6961. Grizzly bears frequent the area. Store your food, beverages, coolers and garbage inside the cabin. Must be 18 years or older to rent the cabin. No electricity/water/sewer site hookups. Please bring your own drinking water and garbage bags. This is a 'Pack it in - Pack it out' site. Reservations can be made 180 days (6 months) in advance. Check-in time is 2:00pm and check-out time is 1:00pm. For the cabin combination, call the Hebgen Lake Ranger District at (406) 823-6961 between 8:00am - 4:30pm on the last business day (Mon-Fri) before your date of arrival, office is closed for all Federal Holidays.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS From West Yellowstone, travel west 6.5 miles on Highway 20, then turn right on the Denny Creek Road 2 miles north. Winter access is by cross-country skiing/snowshoe or snowmobile on the last 2 miles from Highway 20. Winter Parking: Parking is available (for a fee) about ¼ mile west of the Denny Creek Rd on Highway 20 at Yellowstone Rental and Sports. There is no winter parking on the Denny Creek Road or along Highway 20.
