Caribou Trail (56) begins on a logging road and runs uphill through a lodgepole pine stand. Gaining elevation, the trail sidehills around Caribou Mountain and fades out near the US/Canada border. There are natural clearings and openings, offering excellent views of the valley and up into Canada. From Caribou Campground, follow Yaak Highway 92 west 0.3 mile. Turn and travel Road 5800 to the trailhead.
