About As you rise from the valley bottom, switching back and forth across the west face of the mountain, you gain a clear view of Big Mountain in the Whitefish Range and the entire Flathead Valley. From the top are unobstructed views into Glacier National Park to the north, Great Northern Mountain and the Great Bear Wilderness to the east and the Swan Range to the south. Length: 5 miles in length. High difficulty. SPECIAL DIRECTIONS Follow the signs on Highway 2, northeast of Columbia Falls, to the trailhead on the northwest side of Columbia Mountain at the north end of Berne Road.
