About
Pinto Point Trail (52) offers a nice day hike to the lower campsite along Big Creek road or the upper trailhead. The lower trail exits from a dispersed campsite and then climbs out of the canyon via a series of switchbacks to Maxine Point. It then follows a ridge to Pinto Point and continues to the upper trailhead and the junction with Road 255. Nice vistas open along the ridgetop trail, especially at Maxine and Pinto Points. The trail offers a nice day hike to the lwoer campsite or the upper trailhead. Water is not available along the trail. Length: 3.0 miles. Light use, moderate difficulty. SPECIAL DIRECTIONS
From Eureka, South 15 miles on Highway 37. Cross Koocanusa Bridge and travel south on FDR 228 for 8 miles to the Junction with Big Creek Road 336. Turn and follow 5.4 miles to the lower trailhead. Access can also be gained by following the route above to the junction with Big Creek Road, then FDR and then taking Big Creek Road 2 miles to the junction with Steep Creek Road 225 and proceed on this road for 7.5 miles to the trailhead.
