About Porcupine Basin Trail begins on the north side of Beaver Creek Road 4106 and is signed. Hiking along a side hill there are few glimpses of the Beaver Creek Road 4106 and mountain to the south. The trail is under a forest canopy until reaching the talus slope. The talus is situated on a steep side hill. Do use caution when crossing. The views here are outstanding and with map in hand you can see approximately where you are heading. The trail soon reaches the north fork of Arrastra Creek, then heads up over the saddle and joins with Trail 482. At this-point you can either make a long hike and follow Trail 482 down to the road or you can continue on to the Wilderness boundary. A loop trail is suggested, with a pre-arranged pick-up point at the Trail 482 trailhead Length: 2.5 miles.
