About Martha's Basin Trail is actually the access trail for Buffalo Woman Lake and Beaver Woman Lake. Its trailhead begins at the headwaters of Coal Creek off of the Coal Creek Trail. After traveling one mile pass the Martha Basin junction there is a fork in the trail. The left fork proceeds for about a 0.5 mile to Buffalo Woman Lake, which lies below Peril Peak. The right fork descends across an old burn for about 0.7 miles to Beaver Woman Lake campground. Length: 2.1 miles Trail Begins: Coal Creek Trail. (You must first hike 14.9 miles after fording the middle fork of the Flathead to reach this point. You also must ford Coal Creek six times!) Trail Ends: Beaver Woman Lake USGS Map1: Park Map
