About
Welcome to the 4-R Ranch. Originally established in 1917 by "Papa" Emil Gustafson, our historic ranch boasts 900 acres of high meadows and forest land. It is home to an abundant population of elk, deer and other wildlife. At the 4-R Ranch, folks are surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Elkhorns. It is easy to imagine the rugged lives of the Montana cowboys who were here before; working hard, playing hard, and loving a lifestyle fraught with extremes.
As a new "old" venue, the Grove provides an ideal sanctuary for your outdoor wedding. Receptions and other gatherings can be staged in the Hay Field, and the newly restored Ranch House is available for a fantastic mountain get-away. Whether you want to enjoy an event or create your own Elkhorn adventure, we would love to share our ranch with you.
The 4-R Ranch is located in Hunting District 380 which is renowned for its prime elk and deer habitat. We are close enough to Helena to be convenient yet located far enough in the Elkhorn Mountains to provide a great Montana outdoor adventure. The ranch's 900 acres border the Helena National Forest, providing guests with unsurpassed access to an almost limitless area. The ranch house is available for rental during the fall hunting season. In addition, camping space with water and power hook-ups can be arranged.
The newly renovated Ranch House is perfect as the gathering place for the bridal party, a romantic retreat, or home base while watching wildlife and exploring the Elkhorns. The Ranch House features 2 bedrooms, each with a double bed and one bathroom. A fully appointed kitchen that includes a stove, microwave, full-sized refrigerator, and freezer (handy for keeping food or flowers fresh and cold). A spacious living area with a sleeper sofa, TV, and a screened porch for sipping morning coffee or enjoying a cold drink after a fun-filled day.
