About Dayton Yacht Harbor has a rental sailboat fleet featuring Capri 22’s for day use as well as some larger boats for overnight use for experienced sailors depending on destination. Rentals are available on a half day or full day, or longer basis, seven days a week. Dayton Yacht Harbor, on Flathead Lake, is the largest natural freshwater lake west of the Mississippi River. The lake sits at 2,893 feet above sea level, is twenty-seven miles long, and eight to fifteen miles wide. It is more than 370 feet deep at its deepest point near Yellow Bay. Adding character to the lake are several islands, the largest being 2,200-acre Wild Horse Island, a state park. Dayton Bay offers prime sailing conditions throughout most of the day and night. Easterly thermal winds begin at 9:00am and taper off by 6:00pm. A westerly wind picks up at 8:00pm and continues until 5:00am. Occasional westerly frontal systems produce winds of 15 to 20 K by late afternoon. The water is clear and clean, and the views are spectacular.

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS Dayton Yacht Harbor is one of three commercial operations in Dayton, just off Highway 93. Look for the sailboat masts and park by the old Dayton State Bank on the west shore of Flathead by Wildhorse Island. 29 miles south of Kalispell or 25 miles north of Polson. The office is located behind and lakeside of the bank building. We offer a full service sailing marina with 100 slips, boat hauling and launching, boat storage, sailboat rentals and sailing lessons. We have facilities for overnight stays.
