About
Arrastra Creek Trail (482) begins off Beaver Creek Road 4106 where there is ample parking with a horse ramp available. The trail starts out as a road but turns into a blazed trail about an eighth of a mile in. Paralleling the creek its entire length, this trail has very few inclines, and is in excellent condition. Twice during the hike the trail crosses Arrastra Creek. There are no bridges so please use caution when venturing over. Crossing over talus slopes, and through closed canopied Douglas fir trees, this is a very scenic hike. There are open meadows which make superb camping and picnicking areas, with views of the surrounding mountain sides. Right before the second creek crossing, Trail 488 (Porcupine Basin Trail) intersects Arrastra Creek Trail. This trail leads to Huckleberry Pass and is an option the hiker can choose from. Continuing on Arrastra Creek Trail, you will soon reach a small pond which is usually full during early spring. Keep your eyes open for wildlife as this is a favorite spot for them. The Arrastra Creek Trail leads into the Scapegoat Wilderness. The trail joins with Trail 488, which you can follow back to Huckleberry Pass at Forest Road 4106. Length: 8.0 miles Trail Begins: Reservoir Lake on Forest Road 4106 Trail Ends: Forest Trail 483 Area Map: Helena Forest Visitor Map USGS Map1: Arrastra Mountain Township 15N; Range 10W; Section 25
