About
The Numa Ridge Lookout hike starts at the Bowman Lake parking lot in the northern part of Glacier National Park. Take the Bowman Lake Head Trail for half a mile. At the fork, turn left onto the Numa Lookout Trail. This trail climbs to a summit on the ridge, and provides spectacular views of Square Peak, Rainbow Peak, and Mt. Carter. The first two thirds of the Numa Ridge Lookout Trail is heavily wooded and feature dense vegetation. The final third of the trail breaks into thinning trees and eventually rises above the tree line. The view back to the south and west is huge, with the distant views of the Bob Marshall Wilderness, the Great Bear Wilderness, the Swan Range, and the Whitefish Range. An elevation gain of 2,930 feet. One of the easiest lookouts to reach in Glacier.
