About Mountain Butterfly is a full-time commercial hot air balloon operation specializing in long-distance, high altitude flights. When conditions are appropriate, flights over major mountain ranges are offered. With these flights, distance, duration and altitude are not predictable. The general valley flights are dictated by the velocity and direction of the wind at whatever altitude on any given day. Flight distances can range from a mere five miles to forty plus miles, with altitudes approaching 14,000 feet above sea level.
