About The Cayuse Trail is mainly used for hunting, but it also makes a nice day hike. The trail has light use and is of moderate difficulty. Can be used all year. SPECIAL DIRECTIONS Take Highway 12 east from Townsend for 2 miles, turn north on Canyon Ferry Road 284 and follow it for 24 miles to the Avalanche Road 359. The trailhead is located 8 miles up the Avalanche Road.
