About Ch-Paa-Qn (Salish for "shining peak") Trail (707) is a steep day hike from Missoula. The drive takes about an hour and a half. This is a popular trail to Ch-Paa-Qn peak. On a good visibility day you can almost see Flathead Lake. There are two trails that lead to it's summit: trail (707) and also Reservation Divide trail (98) off Edith Peak Road 476-1. Reservation Divide trail (98) by way of Edith Peak Road 476-1 is in better condition. Length: 3.0 miles Area Map: Lolo Forest Visitors Map USGS Map1: Alberton 15' Township 16N; Range 22W; Section 28

SEASON Summer and Fall

SPECIAL DIRECTIONS Take I-90 west from Missoula to Exit 82, Ninemile Road. Go approximately 2 miles, then turn north just before Ninemile House Restaurant onto Remount Road. Go 2 miles to four-way Junction. Proceed straight on Remount Road 476 for 2 miles, then bear northwest (left) on 5490 for 1.5 miles, then turn west on 456. Continue 1 mile turn north (right) on 2178, and it is approximately 6.5 miles to Ch-Paa-Qn Trail 707.
