About South Fork Callahan Trail (154) follows the creek and passes through old growth stands. Open areas are available where the Smith Mountain fire burned down to the creek, and remnants of an old log chute used to send logs down the valley to Troy are noticeable. SPECIAL DIRECTIONS On the outskirts of Troy's city limits, follow Callahan Creek Road 414 approximately 10 miles to the junction with Road 4541 and the trailhead.
